Stage 1 : Dubrovnik – Kolasin – May 17, 2022

On the program for this first stage was a departure from the pearl of the Adriatic and its magical scenery to the high peaks of the Montenegrin mountains.

The coastal road overlooking the old town of Dubrovnik and its many islands led to the border between Croatia and Bosnia Herzegovina towards the city of Trebinje along a magnificent river allowing to reach the mountainous foothills leading to Montenegro towards Lake Niksic where was planned the first passage control and the first regularity test of this 2nd edition of the Adriatic Tour rally.

Then, after a lunch in a typical establishment of the region, we had planned to take the highest road in the country and its route passing through the passes of Sedlo and Prijespa between walls of press snow 3m high. But, to our great regret, the snow removal work on this road could not clean all that snow felt last winter and the road was still closed at the time of our passage. The decision was then taken to divert the rally to a larger road leading to Zabljak.

It was then that the participants had an appointment with the second passage control of the day and a new classification test to reach the Tara canyon which offered an impressive route, in a totally wild setting, whose forests are among the most preserved in the Balkans.

Once we arrived at the winter sports resort of Kolasin, a small peaceful mountain town welcoming us this evening, we stopped at an atypical hotel, the Bianca Resort, with its imposing futuristic architecture dominated by tall fir trees.

It is in this haven of mountain comfort that the competitors now enjoy a well-deserved rest in this cocoon of blond wood after the 300km of this first stage. We therefore give you an appointment tomorrow for the second day of this rally, completely new, in a loop around Kolasin.
